Breast Lift (Mastopexy) Before & After Case 96
Surgeon: Michael A. Bogdan MD
Before & After
Case Details
This 27 year old mother of two from Fort Worth visited Dr. Bogdan interested in a "mommy makeover" - breast enhancement and tummy tuck at the same time. She was very unhappy with the appearance of her abdomen after child bearing, and wanted to get back to her youthful body. She exercised regularly with weight training and cardio, but could not improve her abdominal contour due to the rectus diastasis that her children created.
During her visit at 2301 Plastic Surgery, we discussed all available surgical options, and her long term goals. In relation to her breasts, I noted that she had significant asymmetries in both volume, skin, and position on her chest. Her right right breast was larger than the left, and also had more skin, while the left breast was located higher on her chest. These types of asymmetries are normal, but would be more noticeable after surgery if we just proceeded with a straight breast augmentation. The ideal correction for her breasts would be to first address the asymmetries by performing an anchor mastopexy (breast lift) with slight volume reduction on the right side. This would allow us to make the skin envelopes more symmetrical, as well as the volume. The horizontal limb of the mastopexy would allow me to lower the high left sided fold, so her breasts would be symmetrically located on her chest (which is very important for two piece bathing suits). She wanted to achieve the best results, so we proceeded with a standard tummy tuck and an anchor incision mastopexy, with the plan for breast augmentation after she had some time to heal.
The operation proceeded smoothly and was completed in 3 hours, 45 minutes. I removed around 60 gm from the right breast, and also fixed a small umbilical hernia during the tummy tuck. Three months after the initial surgery, we completed the makeover by performing the breast augmentation procedure. We still had slight volume asymmetries after the breast lift, so this was addressed by using slightly different size implants. Mentor smooth round high profile cohesive gel implants were utilized, with 325cc on the right, and 350cc on the left. Her postoperative photos are shown 4 months after the tummy tuck operation, and the scars are still immature. She is very happy with her new physique, and is enjoying the end of summer. (Tubing behind their speedboat - be careful!)
