Tummy Tuck Before & After Case 61
Surgeon: Michael A. Bogdan MD
Before & After
Case Details
This 51 year old woman from the Fort Worth region presented to my Southlake practice desiring improvement in the appearance of her abdomen. She had delivered one child, and had undergone non-elective abdominal surgery that resulted in a low midline scar. She was displeased with the stretch marks and budge in her abdomen that resulted from childbearing, as well as the visibility of the vertical scar in swimwear.
During our consultation, I explained that her buldge was a result from muscular weakness in her abdominal wall, and suggested an abdominoplasty procedure (tummy tuck). On the day of surgery, together we designed the location of the tummy tuck scar, such that it could be hidden with a two-piece baiting suit. During the operation, I found that she had a significant amount of rectus diastasis (laxity of the abdominal wall caused by her pregnancy), and repaired this by muscular tightening. I was able to fully remove her previous midline scar, and created a new belly button.
She recovered from surgery very nicely, with minimal discomfort. She is now very happy with the appearance of her stomach, (Please note the marked change on the side view caused by the diastasis repair.)
