Tummy Tuck Before & After Case 44
Surgeon: Michael A. Bogdan MD
Before & After
Case Details
This 27 year old woman from the Bedford area is the daughter-in-of a recovery room nurse who referred her to me after being impressed with how smoothly my patients tend to recover after surgery. The patient had been considering a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) since the birth of her son and had been trying to choose a surgeon. Despite being very physically active with bicycling and cardio, she had not been able to improve the contour of her abdomen to the appearance that she desires. She disliked the fullness of her hips, and was unhappy with overhanging skin caused by her c-section scar. She requested a low scar location for the tummy tuck, as she plans to wear two-piece bathing suits in the future.
After examining her, I agreed that an abdominoplasty operation would be appropriate, but also suggested that she consider liposuction of her flanks. We could perform this safely at the same time as the tummy tuck, and it would significantly improve her result with creation of an hour-glass waist line. She agreed and was excited to proceed.
During surgery, I initially performed the liposuction, and then proceeded with the tummy tuck. I utilized the old c-section scar to design the middle portion of my incision, and used the low location that we had agreed upon for the lateral extension. I performed corset tightening of her ab muscles (note the flat appearance of her stomach on the side view), and created a new belly button. Her recovery was smooth with minimal discomfort.
She is very happy with the results of surgery, and was glad to have finally “gotten it done”. The impact of the flank liposuction is dramatic, and best seen on the oblique view, which displays the nice curvature of her waist.
